Julia Sandrina Voet-Garceau was born September 10, 1936 in Marquette, MI to Santa Maria (Giotto) and George (Rip) Voet. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her siblings are Gerald, Rita, Dolores, and Kenneth.
She married William P. Garceau and they had 3 children, Melanie, George and Jerry. She was a very special "Nannie" to Billy, James, Megan, Joseph and Sarah.
In October of 2005 Julia was diagnosed with pleural Mesothelioma and given a poor prognosis. At that time she decided to not take treatment and go for quality time instead of quantity. We as her family supported her decision.
In March of 2006 she decided it was "time to go home to Marquette" and she left the place that meant SO much to her in southern Florida. I KNOW this was very hard leaving the very special friends she had made there and all of her goodies she collected over the years. Her family, friends and collection meant the world to her!
Jerry, Kris and Sarah unselfishly welcomed her into their home where she spent the last 8 and a half months of her life. Thanks to them and her "special angels" Becky and Linda, we were able to carry out our moms wishes. She succumbed at the age of 70 on November 17, 2006.
